If you followed the Snake Diet, then you lost weight and met your goals. Now, it’s time to hit the maintenance stage. For some people, they think this part means that they can go back to the way that they used to eat before they got on the diet.
You can’t do that. You can’t return to your same old eating habits because that’s how you become overweight to start with. So if you’re mindset is “bring on the junk food,” then that’s the wrong mindset and you’ll end up regaining the weight and ruining all your hard work.
You can easily maintain your weight loss, but you’re going to need to put some effort into it. This means that you need to make the center of your eating lifestyle one that’s fasting in nature.
You can’t go back to eating 3 meals a day plus snacks. The reason you don’t want to do this has to do with the way that insulin responds to food. You’ll end up regaining weight even if your meals are built around food that’s healthy.
What you need to do is just focus on eating one meal a day. Then you follow your regular exercise routine and practice fasting for the other meals you used to normally eat.
This is the schedule that you want to follow if you’re active, but it’s different if you’re someone who isn’t active. For those people, they would need to make sure they followed a fasting period – maybe a bit shorter for the maintenance period than when you’re trying to lose pounds.
Once these hours were over, then they would need to have their meal, then get right back on the fast again. That’s because being active versus not being active can make a big difference in weight loss maintenance.
Those who don’t work out tend to gain weight if they don’t stick to a stricter fasting routine. If you’re someone who does have a regular workout schedule, then you can eat your low carb vegetables along with starchy carbohydrates, fruits and protein.
If you don’t work out, skip the starchy food because you’ll gain weight. One of the questions that inevitably comes up is what to eat once you’ve completed the diet. The answer is to eat what you want to that’s healthy and works for your body.
That doesn’t mean that you eat junk food. The reason for this is because all calories aren’t the same. That 200 calorie junk food snack will impact your hormones differently than a snack of protein and vegetables that’s also 200 calories.
Don’t just eyeball your portion sizes. You need to measure everything you eat. Use a food scale to do this and make sure you get a good one. It’s up to you to learn the foods that are best for your body when it comes to maintaining your weight loss. This puts you in the driver’s seat, which is exactly where you need to be.
