Once Burnout Has Ensued, Take Action to Restore Your Work-Life Balance > Self Help

Have you ever been in a position where you just hit a wall and you were done? You couldn’t handle something one second longer. This is what it feels like when you’re suffering from burnout.

Burnout is a mix of both physical and emotional responses in most people. It starts out as a mental reaction to being overburdened or overworked – or in some stats of distress, and it evolves into a physical response where you’re tired, unable to eat, or suffering from other outward signs.

Usually, burnout is associated with the workplace. Your tasks, the schedule, and even the people you’re interacting with can contribute to burnout if your experience with these issues is negative and unending.

But burnout isn’t only something that affects your professional life. It can also be something you experience in your personal world, too. You might burn out on your schedule with carpooling the kids, after school sports, caretaking of children or even elderly parents, and more.

You might be the only one handling the entire list of chores in your house, doing all of the shopping, cooking and cleaning in addition to working fulltime to build your business.

If you notice any of these things happening and you start feeling the effects of burnout, such as insomnia or exhaustion, irritability, or even tension in your muscles and neck or back, it’s time to take action to fix it.

First, create a necessary buffer between yourself and anything toxic that can be avoided. If that’s an unruly relative or toxic coworker, set some space between the two of you to give yourself a break from the turmoil.

You may need to find a support team to help you alleviate some of the stress you’re experiencing. For example, ask your family for help maintaining the house or find a fellow parent to split carpooling duties with you.

If your burnout is work-related, see what you can do to take a step back and take on fewer responsibilities. It may be that you need to work fewer hours, take on one less client, or even change business models entirely.

Burnout is something that will sneak up on, too – so be careful. At first, you might brush it off as something everyone has to deal with. Then you start trying to put out fires to avoid a complete collapse, followed by ruthless emotional and physical turmoil that doesn’t let up until you finally give in and commit to making changes in your life.

Top 5 Ways to Achieve Your Goal of a Minimalist Lifestyle > Lifestyle

Wish that life was a little simpler? That you had a little less stress and a little more time to spend with your family?
Well, you’ve pretty much described a minimalist lifestyle! The good news is that this is a well-documented lifestyle and one that anyone can achieve with the right approach. In this post, we’re going to look at 5 ways you can make a minimalist lifestyle a reality…

Know What You Want

The first thing you need to do is to know what you want and know what your goal is. That means that you have to know what you’re all about and what is important to you – whether it’s friends and family, or music. Once you know this, you can then be less easily swayed by marketing and advertising because you’ll know what you need to be happy. Your lifestyle should be an efficient system that supports the things that matter to you.

Play With the Numbers

Many of us only feel successful when we see numbers going up. More employees, more money, more friends.
But often you can play with the numbers to get more from less. A good example of this is to think about your wealth. Wealth is not just about how much you earn but how much you spend. Move to a smaller house and you can be wealthy on your current salary. Would that make you happier?

Find Ways to Enjoy What You Have

In order to change your focus, you need to learn to enjoy what you already have. This means it’s time to stop thinking the grass is greener on the other side and instead to start really enjoying the things you already have.
One way to do this is to write a list of things you can do and enjoy with what you already have, that you have yet to make the most of.

Adopt a Gratitude Attitude

A gratitude attitude means being grateful for what you have instead of bitter about what you don’t. The method most people use to cultivate this, is to write down three things they’re grateful for every night. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel!

Keep Trying!

Finally, make sure you keep trying and don’t go too hard on yourself. A minimalist lifestyle won’t come overnight and you may find it takes a while to get used to it. Keep trying and don’t give up!

Can You Drink Alcohol While on the Snake Diet? > Dieting & Weight Loss

Knowing what you can and can’t have while on the Snake Diet is one of the keys to successfully reaching your weight loss goals. A question that you might have is wondering if it’s okay to have some alcohol while you’re on this diet.

The answer is no. When you’re on the diet, your body will go into ketosis and the effect of alcohol on the body while in this period is always ramped up. The response that you get from the body when consume alcohol mixed with fasting is an insulin response.

In addition to that, the alcohol will hit your system faster and harder. Not only will you more easily get a hangover, but the amount of alcohol your body can tolerate when you’re not in a feeding window will be less than what it normally is, which can put you at danger of alcohol poisoning if you drink heavily.

While there can also be numerous reasons you might think of for having some alcohol, if you do drink, you risk messing up the progress you may have made so far because alcohol does a lot to your body.

These results are the opposite of what you want. For example, when you’re fasting like you are on the Snake Diet, you want to burn fat. The fasting does this well, but when you add alcohol, it works to prevent the body from burning fat.

It doesn’t just slow it down, it brings it to a complete stop. This defeats the purpose of the diet. So all the work you’ve done can be undone if you’re drinking while on the diet.
Not only will any alcohol you drink work against your body trying to burn fat, but it can also trigger food cravings and lead to you consuming more food during your eating window.

The more alcohol you drink, the more you’ll struggle with both body fat and weight loss.
The guidelines for the Snake Diet discourage the use of alcohol because of the poor nutrient quality, for the effect on the body as well as the calorie content.

One can of beer can contain 150+ calories. Wine can have over 100 calories at just 5 ounces, while vodka is nearly 100 calories for just 1.5 ounces. In addition, alcohol can also undo the good that detoxifying during your initial fasting does for you.

Fasting on the Snake Diet helps decrease inflammation, but when you drink alcohol, it can cause inflammation in the body and this can lead to various health issues – including an imbalance in your gut bacteria.

So when you fast on the diet, but drink at the same time, you’re constantly in a cycle of good followed by bad and the bad cancels out the good. This is why it’s not recommended.

5 Tips for Successful Affirmations > Affirmations

Affirmations can be an incredibly powerful tool to help you manifest all your desires. However, if they aren’t done correctly, they can be a complete waste of time. The key to finding success with your positive affirmations is to have an unshakeable confidence that what you are stating will happen. Here are five more tips that you can use to take your success with affirmations to the next level.

Tip #1 – Be Specific

The more detail you can include in your positive affirmations the more real it will become, and the more believable it is. Just like when you are setting your goals, you need to inform your Reticular Activating System what it is you want to achieve. You need to aim to be as specific as possible. When you can be specific with your affirmations, they can provide you with the motivation and opportunity to get everything you desire.

Tip #2 – Use Active Visualization

It isn’t enough to merely read your affirmations off of a card and then quickly move onto the next one. You have to visualize the affirmations. You have to read each affirmation and then spend a few minutes imagining what it will be like when the statement is achieved. Think about what you will see, what you will hear, what smells you’ll experience, and what feelings you’ll have about the achievement.

Tip #3 – Utilize Audio Motivation

Music can be a potent tool to use with your affirmations. When you read your affirmations, consider listening to some motivational, stirring, or upbeat music. Listening to music can help to stir up the feelings inside you. It is your feelings that generate the internal vibrations that will ultimately move you closer to your desires.

Tip #4 – Use Images

Take the time to overlay your affirmations over some appropriate background pictures. If you aren’t skilled in Photoshop, you can just look at relevant images after you’ve read your statements out loud. When you look at images that are congruent with your affirmations, it will generate some excitement. This excitement will get your vibrating in a positive way that will help you attract your desired outcome.

Tip #5 – Believe That They’ve Already Been Achieved

You always want to state your affirmations in the present tense. For example, instead of saying, I will lose weight by the end of the month say I’ve reached my ideal weight with ease. With the Law of Attraction if you say I want to lose weight, it hears the words I want and will leave you in a constant state of wanting. Affirmations can work for you when done correctly. Consider these tips when you’re creating your affirmations to be successful and manifest all your life’s desires.

How to Prevent Your Body From Deteriorating As You Age (And Why it Does) > Anti-Aging

What does an old person look like? Hunched over? Slow? Doddering? Shaky? And how likely are you to see an older person in their 70s+ go running or performing gymnastics? Not very?

Our assumptions about the elderly are generally fueled by stereotypes and perhaps the people we know in our own lives. But just because a lot of people lose their ability to move well as they age, that doesn’t mean you have to.
Just take a look at Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. These guys are approaching their 70s and they’re still more muscular than most of us every will be in our whole lives! There are old Grandmas in their 80s who can perform top-level gymnastics and at any marathon you will see a lot of elderly contenders.

The reality is that your body does not have a ‘best before’ date on it. Actually, your body should be more than capable of lasting your entire life. The problem is the way we use it.

How Your Body Deteriorates

Think about what most of us do between the hours of 9-5, 5 days a week. We sit in an office, hunched over and working. No doubt most of us will pick up some kind of injury and this then teaches us that we need to slow down and stop being active (which is encouraged by most people we know).

We spend our retirement also sitting down and during all this time, our bodies start to lose their flexibility, their muscle tone and their dynamism. This is when imbalances arrive and it’s when we start to experience chronic pain.
Sometimes this is exacerbated by illness or inflammation but very often it is simply the result of a lack of use, improper movement and muscular imbalances.

How to Fix It

So how do you fix it? Simple: you start to move again. And you stop treating yourself like you’re made from glass! You need to push your body for it to adapt and become stronger and that is how you avoid aging.

That doesn’t mean you should launch straight into an intense CrossFit regime though. Instead, you need to make sure that you introduce yourself to exercise gently with walking or swimming and then build on that. Work with a trainer and find someone who understands functional movement. In no time, you’ll be moving better than you ever did in your youth!

Can You Lift Weights While on the Snake Diet? > Dieting & Weight Loss

The Snake Diet is a weight loss plan that gives you a lot of freedom. This is one of the many reasons why it’s so successful. You can have a choice in what to eat, when to schedule your fasts and when to refeed.

Part of that freedom is with the way that you exercise. You don’t want to avoid this because it helps burn fat. So it’s important, when you’re on the Snake Diet, that you continue to work out.

This can help keep you motivated as well as help you reach your weight loss goals. There are many different kinds of exercise that you can do and one of these that’s okay to perform on the diet is lifting weights.

When you lift weights, your body releases endorphins. It’s okay to continue doing whatever weight lifting schedule you had if you were doing it before you began the diet and it’s okay to begin a routine if you’re a couch potato.

Something that you have to watch out for is that you might find during your fasting days that your energy level might be a little less than it was before. What some people have discovered while lifting weights on the diet is that their strength and stamina aren’t the same if they try to lift weights during certain peaks – and this is just a timing issue you can work through.

Some find that lifting weights before a refeed just isn’t as easy to do. So if that’s what you encounter, then you might want to consider scheduling your weight lifting workouts for after you’ve had a meal.

Doing this can also help with energy. However, if you can handle it, you can lift weights before you eat, because this can help with your recovery period. If you are working out before you refeed, just keep in mind that your body may need more electrolytes, so you’ll need to make sure that you’re drinking your Snake Juice.

Don’t drink plain water. For those following the Snake Diet that find lifting weights more difficult even once they’ve gone through a refeed, you might need to change up the foods that you’re eating on your workout days.

You can also change your weight lifting routine so that it works better for you while you’re on this diet. The key is to listen to your body. If you find that it’s just too hard to lift weights while you’re fasting, then lighten the load of your weight lifting workout.

Switch from using the heavier weights you’ve been using to instead working out with lighter weights. Don’t push yourself to level up or work as hard as you normally would so that you give your body time to adjust.

How a Minimalist Lifestyle Can Work for You > Lifestyle

Think a minimalist lifestyle isn’t for you?

Love your fancy cars, your expensive suits and your gadgets too much?
Well, I invite you to think again. Read on and you might just realize that you’ve been coming at things the wrong way…

Working to Live

Somewhere along the line, many of us have forgotten that we ‘work to live’. Today, we ‘live to work’ and a large part of this is our drive to have more stuff and more status.

Why are you applying for higher positions in your current career? Is it because you need more money? Sure, more money might be nice. But if you feel that you’re living beyond your means, then you may not have considered some of the other options available to you to solve that problem. One example is simply to move into a smaller house.

Move into a smaller house and you’ll have less space to store your things…

…but that will be about the only downside! Meanwhile, on your current salary, you’ll have much less financial stress, you’ll have bigger savings and you’ll be able to spend some money on things that really matter to you! Conversely, if you take that job, then suddenly you’re working longer hours and you’re coming home a lot more stressed at 7pm. Sure, you can buy that fancy gadget… but do you actually have time to use it? Why not get something similar on a lower salary by cutting back on the clutter you don’t need?

Status Versus Fulfilment

A lot of people reading this might be protesting that they don’t work for the stuff. Rather, they keep on increasing their responsibilities and salary at work because it brings them fulfilment and status. Isn’t it great to be able to tell people you’re the CEO? The manager? Or just a high flying lawyer?

Sure, but why does your sense of fulfilment and status have to come from your work?

For starters, status is a very empty concept anyway. Who are you proving yourself to? Your parents? Aren’t we beyond that yet?

Meanwhile, you could get just as much fulfilment – or more – from writing your own music, creating art, writing a novel, travelling the world or learning German. But that would be your choice and your creation.

Why do people feel so proud to be the head honcho of a company that sells stationary? Is that really what matters to ? Or have you been misled…?
